注册There's nothing like spring in the PNW.
After a long stretch of gray skies, we're rewarded with some of the best weather in the country. Gardens burst with daffodils and tulips, and bare branches give way to pale pink cherry blossoms and magnolias.
Another great thing about spring? Rugby season! Between February and June, you can catch the Seattle Seawolves playing at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. We're big fans of the Seawolves down in Seattle Southside, so we partnered with them to showcase some of the best places to experience spring. Read on to get inspired.
Start your morning with a walk at Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden. At this peaceful urban retreat, which is free and open to the public, cherry blossoms, and magnolias create stunning pink and white canopies, while rhododendrons and azaleas paint the landscape in brilliant reds, purples, and oranges. Stroll along peaceful pathways, taking in the sweet fragrance of lilacs and early-blooming roses. You might even be inspired to break out a sketchbook or easel to capture the scene.

Getting through winter is no picnic. What better way to celebrate getting through it than to have one? In Seattle Southside, it's not uncommon for spring temps to climb into the 50s or even 60s, making it the perfect time to have lunch outside. There are plenty of beautiful places for picnicking in Seattle Southside, but one of our favorites has got to be Des Moines Beach Park, a peaceful stretch of land with views of the ocean, the Olympic Mountains, and the forested coastline. On your way there, pick up artisanal snacks at nearby Marina Mercantile, which has a delightful selection of charcuterie and a fridge stocked with premium mocktails and sodas. Enjoy a leisurely meal, then walk out onto the pier at the marina or explore the two-mile Des Moines Beach Trail.
If spring brings back memories of biking around the neighborhood, try out BMX to really feel like a kid again. And if you're intimidated by it, don't be! SeaTac BMX is a welcoming spot for beginners who want to try the sport for the first time. The track offers one-day free trials to newcomers (check on their website for details before planning your visit).
You'll find a supportive community and a track designed for all experience levels, featuring smooth jumps, berms, and straightaways. While you're there, don't forget to look up and admire the planes flying frequently overhead. (It might even inspire you to go plane spotting for your next adventure). Note: the track is closed between November 1 - April 30, so you'll want to wait until later in spring to check it out.
There's plenty more to do in Seattle Southside when the sun is out. If you have so much fun after your day out that you can't wait to plan your next adventure, check out the top places to picnic, scenic beaches, parks, and family-friendly activities.
